QUIZ Lifting Operations After introduction ask the audience to join in identifying some of the hazards that they can identify in this drawing, ensure that you expand on each point asking Why it is a hazard and what the perceived impact or outcome would be Lifting Operations

Signaller not wearing safety helmet Correct hand signals not being used Adjacent excavation not guarded Outrigger of crane too near to edge of trench on unstable ground Tag rope not being used Driver cannot see signaler Nails in timber sticking up Spoil heap causing possible trip hazard Spoil heap sited too close to edge of excavation Lifting Operations As before re enforce the dangers of non compliance and how easy it is to walk past and say nothing but it is much harder and braver to interviene.
