* Cracow is one of the oldest and the most interesting cities in Poland. It is situated on the Vistula River. Cracow was the capital of Poland for 500 years. * The name Cracow comes from the name of its founder Prince Krakus. When you go to Cracow you must see some important places for example: The Old Market, the Wawel Castle, the Mariacki Church and the famous Cloth Hall with its fantastic market stalls and many other places of interest.

* Michaelangel Church is situated in Skałka in one of the most famous parts of Cracow – Kazimierz.

* Juliusz Słowacki Theatre was built in 1893 and named after Polish famous poet Juliusz Słowacki. It is one of the most beautiful theatres in Cracow.

* The Wawel castle is the most popular place in Cracow. It is the first site for tourists to see. * Mieszko I, the first Polish ruler lived there. * Wawel is known for its legend about the Wawel Dragon.

* Saint Marys Basilica is famous for its wooden altar carved by Wit Stwosz. * This church is situated in the Main Market Square * Every hour, a trumpet signal called the Hejnał Mariacki is played from the top of the taller of St. Mary's two towers.

* The Barbican was built in 15th century as the most important element in the system of defence walls around the city. It is circular in construction, with 3 meter thick walls. There are two gates, one from Kleparz and the other from the city walls.

* In the centre of the Main Market Square is The Cloth Hall (Sukiennice). It is one of the most important buildings in the city. It has been reconstructed many times. It used to be a street with shops on both sides. The street was then roofed.

* The Florianska Gate - the main city gate, built at the end of XIII century to protect the entrance to the city. * The elevation shows the Polish eagle, symbol of Polands first rulers. On both sides of the gate are the Medieval city walls. Nowadays there are a lot of paintings on the walls, you can buy one as a souvenir.

* Kościuszko Mound (Kopiec Kościuszki) was erected in 1823 by Cracovians for the Polish national leader Tadeusz Kościuszko. There is a beautiful view on the Vistula and the city.

* Another point of interest in the Main Market is the Tower of the Town Hall situated close to the Cloth Hall. It is leaning for about 55cm and people call it the Leaning Tower of Cracow
