European Sourcebook project 1993-2005 History Some findings
European Sourcebook project History Project set up under the Council of Europe in 1993 Managed by expert group (currently Swiss, German, Dutch, French, Polish, Swedish, UK, Spanish (Argentinian), Albanian). Three surveys (1995, 1999, 2003) of crime & criminal justice statistics - collection of both numerical data & definitional material. Current funding Dutch, UK, French, German, Swiss, UK and EC.
European Sourcebook project Main aspects of surveys Collection of statistical data based upon official sources. Collection of metadata from each country and for each statistical series eg offence definitions, counting rules, point of recording. Quality controlling including arithmetical accuracy, consistency between statistical series and logical sense.
