Key Question How can we reduce the demand for resources? Write down any ideas on p18 in your booklets. (HINT, think about the photos you have just seen!)

Trying to achieve sustainability (a balance) Very difficult to achieve a sustainable balance between resource consumption and use. Turn to p160 in Evolving Planet.

What is sustainable development? This is development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. (You need to learn this) COPY IT OUT ONTO P18 and answer c i and ii in your booklet.

Reducing resource use Watch this video and make any notes into your exercise book about the ways in which we can reduce our resource use.

Your Task You work for the local branch of Greenpeace and you have been asked by your boss to produce a leaflet that will be sent to local people and local businesses to try to get them to use less precious resources. HINT – use some of the ideas on p162 as well as some of the local solutions that you have seen on the video to help suggest ways people and companies can reduce their use of resources.

Homework! Finish off the leaflet on reducing energy use. To be handed in _________________
