The objective of this project is: to improve methodology for pesticide statistics collection in the perspective of the further practical implementation of the proposed Regulation on Pesticide Statistics and consolidation of administrative networks of SatisticsLithuania and State Plant Protection Service. 05-06 September 2007

Submitting the final report and results to Eurostat. Activities foreseen: Establishment of a Working Group involving specialists of SL and SPPS in the field of pesticide statistics; Implementation of Countrywide Plant Protection Usage Data Collection Survey on Wheat ; Participation in the workshops organized within the framework of the project ; Submitting the final report and results to Eurostat. Lithuania has not started to compile environmental protection expenditure accounts yet. Methodological part of the Council Regulation 2223/96 on the European System of National and regional Accounts in the Community describes principles of environmental accounts preparation, however it does not regulate deadlines for submitting satellite accounts. In our opinion an additional legal act is needed. Since 1997 Statistics Lithuania has been organizing and processing of primary data needed for the economic accounting of environment – environmental protection expenditure of enterprises and Municipalities. Data on environmental expenditure of municipalities are collected by total survey. 05-06 September 2007

Current status of implementation of the project The main tasks of the Pilot Project: - identification of farms population for the survey, preparation of a sample plan and selection of farms for the sample survey - implemented - questionnaire designing and testing of a questionnaire - implemented It should be noted that the data collection does not cover all the required data for the reporting to Eurostat via OECD/Eurostat Joint Questionnaire “Environmental protection Expenditures and revenues” and compilation EPEA (Environmental protection Expenditure Account). 05-06 September 2007
