4 Environmental Accounts March 2011State of play monetary environmental accounts 2011 Environmental protection expenditure (EPE) JQ 2010: prefilled and launched in July 2010; basic checking tool was incorporated Detailed ‘country fact sheet’ publication: preparation started and planned to be released by summer 2011 SIF on EPE at EU level: planned to be published by end of 2011 Methodology for estimating EU aggregates for EPE: set up in autumn 2010 Estimation of EU aggregates following 2010 data collection: planned to be extended in terms of coverage (environmental domains, economic variables) Details: point 14 of agenda

7 Environmental Accounts March 2011State of play monetary environmental accounts 2011 Environmentally related taxes 2010 data collection: launched in October 2010; basic checking tool was incorporated; new items included SIF: planned to be published by end of 2011 Methodology for estimating EU aggregates for environmental taxes in a breakdown by economic activities: drafting started First EU aggregates: available by end of 2011 for the period 1995-2008 Details: point 16 of agenda Emission permits: –Initial payment for permits: tax –Changes in the price of the emission permit between the issue date and the emission date: non-produced nonfinancial asset (not financial asset) –Advantage: revenues from issuing emission permits by governments are environmental tax revenues
