Migration – movement of people to a new place

Internal migration – moving to a new home within a country

Emigration – moving out of one country to move to another (EXIT)

Emigrant – a person who moves OUT to live in another place

Immigration – moving into a country

Immigrant – a person who moves INTO a new place

Refugee – a person who leaves to a new country due to fear of being in their home country

Push factor – reasons for moving OUT of a place because of difficulty (food shortage, war, lack of jobs)

Pull factor – reasons for moving INTO a place because of something positive (better jobs, freedom, better food supply)
