Further population of metadata and data for contaminants By Dick M.A. Schaap – Technical Coordinator Roskilde - Denmark, 6th February 2018, Plenary Group meeting EMODnet Chemistry 3
Contaminants Approach for marine chemistry measurements Continuation of approach of gathering and populating relevant measurements data into the SeaDataNet CDI Data Discovery and Access service with CDI metadata format and ODV data format; use of MIKADO and NEMO / Octopus tools Focus on data concerning: eutrophication (nutrients, chlorophyll and oxygen) Contaminants Micro marine litter Geographical scope expanded with Barents Sea Data scope expanded with riverine input of nutrients
Which contaminants? Pharmaceuticals In the 3 matrices: water, sediment, biota
Which contaminants – for biota? In addition, there is a need to collect also following parameters specifically in biota: o PCB’s § CB28 - 2,4,4'-trichlorobiphenyl § CB52 - 2,2',5,5'-tetrachlorobiphenyl § CB101 - 2,2',4,5,5'-pentachlorobiphenyl § CB105 - 2,3,3',4,4'-pentachlorobiphenyl § CB118 - 2,3',4,4',5-pentachlorobiphenyl § CB138 - 2,2',3,4,4',5'-hexachlorobiphenyl § CB153 - 2,2',4,4',5,5'-hexachlorobiphenyl § CB180 - 2,2',3,4,4',5,5'-heptachlorobiphenyl § TBSN+ - Tributyltin ion
Chemical substances for contaminants In addition, there is a need to collect also following parameters specifically in biota: o PBDE’s § PBDE28 - 2,4,4'-tribromodiphenyl ether § PBDE47 - 2,2',4,4'-tetrabromodiphenyl ether § PBDE99 - 2,2',4,4',5-pentabromodiphenyl ether § PBDE100 - 2,2',4,4',6-pentabromodiphenyl ether § PBDE153 - 2,2',4,4',5,5'-hexabromodiphenyl ether § PBDE154 - 2,2',4,4',5,6'-hexabromodiphenyl ether o PFOS - perfluorooctanyl sulphonic acid o DDT § DDEPP - DDE (p,p') o BAP – Benzo(a)pyrene o Antifoulants § TBTIN - Tributyltin (TBT) § TBSN+ - Tributyltin ion
CDI population and maintenance by partners for contaminants: Gathering of local data and metadata by partners Mapping and local editing activities Compiling and validating batches of metadata Submission to MARIS for import and validation into the operational CDI directory Maintaining the coupling table between CDI metadata and local data
Extra efforts required by data providers for: Including additional quality information in CDI Including indication ‘Monitoring <-> Research’ Ensuring coherence of the CDI – ODV relations Ensuring validity of ODV files => Use OCTOPUS and ODV software for checking ODV files Do these checks and extra’s for new entries Review also existing CDIs and ODVs Follow the inventory as provided as part of the proposal From now till June 2018 for contaminants data
