Presentation of the Nordplus Higher education project Prof. dr. Raimundas Kalesnykas Faculty of Law Kazimieras Simonavicius University, Lithuania Presentation of the Nordplus Higher education project «Development of Society and Organisation Security programmes 2017-2018»

Idea for project design & cooperation... Security as global phenomena become as the highest priority of any country... Countries faced by common security threats, i.e. terrorism, manifestation of extremism and radicalism, cyber-crime, illegal migration, business spyware, money laundering, violation of data protection, corruption ... Multi-dimensional approach to manage security threats & risks Integrated efforts & permanent management system, which must have each organization (context, scope, content) Strong need for specialist and well trained professionals who can ensure security and manage security related risks (in society, organization or individuals) Lack of specialized training programmes and security training standard Lack of knowledge and experiences in teaching related subjects (indicate necessary improvements and availability of learning resources)

Project partners... 3 partners: Turiba Univeristy, Latvia Kazimieras Simonavičius University, Lithuania Laurea University of Applied Sciences , Finland

Important facts... All partners have and implementing security related study programmes (BA level): TU – «Organisation Security»; KSU – «Law and Economic (Business) Security»; LUAS – «Security management» More than 20 security experts involved (lecturers, trainers, professionals, students) Duration: September 2017 – October 2018 Co-Financed by NORDPLUS Higher Education Programme Budget - 37 811,00 Euro (50% self-financing)

Project aim Raise partners’ and security experts’ knowledge about security issues, exchange experiences, revise and develop programmes related to security as well as to prepare up-to date and comprehensive study material (book) on security issues, which will be integrated and used in all study programs

Project outcomes... Experience exchange and Networking in security field (Baltic and Scandinavian countries) Evaluation of existing Security related study programmes in 3 partner universities, summary report will be developed (SWOT, improvement, teaching methods); Meeting of the partners in TU (Riga) and LUAS (Helsinki) was held; Training seminars to raise awareness of lecturers and experts about today‘s security issues was delivered (on cross-border and international security issues, security risks and threats) Conference „Organization and Individual Security” in Riga on 19.04.2018 (120 participants, promote main results of the project & discuss important Security topics in Baltic and Scandinavian region) Publishing the Book „Organization and Individual Security” (2018)

Book «Organization and Individual Security 2018» (1) WHY BOOK? Lack of systemized learning resources and comprehensive teaching materials Superficial knowledges and experiences in teaching on security related subjects Lecturers are using for teaching their own materials, which are not sufficient and need to be reviewed according to the needs of nowadays security situation MAIN TOPICS: Theory of security Security risk management Physical Security; Security leadership & personnel management Crime prevention and investigation Cybersecurity Information security & data protection Security ethics Security research & innovations Security training Public - private security partnership

Book «Organization and Individual Security 2018» (2) Book will be fully integrated in study process of all Project partner Universities It will be unique and the main study and teaching material on Security issues (for students and for professionals as self-education tool) More than 20 authors from Latvia, Lithuania and Finland are involved 300 pages and Printed version will be200 hard copies available in Libraries of Project partner Universities On-line version on www.turiba.lv/security (for free for anyone)

Networking... Strong cross-border and regional cooperation in security issues (universities and research institutes, public and private sector organizations, security companies and agencies, security associations) Pool of experts – open for everyone (lecturers and students, trainers, specialists, researchers specializing in various security sub-topics (cyber security, security risk management, security psychology, security ethics, pubic-private security partnership, cross-border security issues, etc.) Sharing best practices and experiences (on developing, managing and improving Security related study programmes, training and research activities (projects, teaching methods, joint study programmes) Monitoring existing study programmes (to identify strong and weak sides, support each other in development the new study programmes) Training and project activities (raise lecturers and security experts’ knowledge and competences on security issues, data management and protection, teaching techniques, etc.) Regular communication, publications and conferences (coordinating by leading partner) FB group (updated information about the project, study and research materials, other activities on regular bases (at least 1 time per month)
