2 Ministry of the Interior (MoI LV) is established by law as the highest managing institution of the home affairs sector of State administration. MoI LV is responsible for public policy in the fields like fight against crime, protection of public order and security, protection of individual rights and lawful interests, state border security, fire safety, fire security, rescue, civil protection, record keeping and documentation of the population, as well as migration.

3 MoI role in the field of Anti-Trafficking Position of National Rapporteur is not established MoI provides: implementation of a role and tasks of National Anti-Trafficking Coordinator coordination of the implementation of anti- trafficking policy organization of work of inter-institutional working group representation of Latvia at regional and international working groups and networks

4 National Anti-Trafficking Coordination Mechanism Inter-institutional working group established by a Prime Minister consists of representatives from: 7 branch ministries; 2 law enforcement agencies; 9 governmental and municipal institutions; 5 NGOs (National Coalition of NGOs is represented); 1 civil society partner. Work of inter-institutional working group is based on 3 P principle: public-private partnership

5 Tasks of inter-institutional working group Implementation of anti-trafficking policy Monitoring Data collection Trend analysis Evaluation Reporting Training and awareness raising Identification of challenges

6 Work of inter-institutional working group 4 meetings a year An agenda is proposed by the MoI LV Each member reports on results, statistics, problems, challenges and future plans Detailed minutes are prepared – quarterly report

7 Work done: A number of awareness raising campaigns has increased A number of training has increased A number of joint projects has increased A number of legislative initiatives are passed A trust and cooperation between governmental institutions and NGOs is developed
