Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office County Corrections Recidivism and Admission Data 2018 1 & 3 Year Recidivism Data Collected in 2018 3 Year Recidivism – 2015 24.6% of inmates released in 2015 returned to the facility as a sentenced inmate. 1 Year Recidivism – 2017 16% of all inmates released in 2017 returned to the facility as a sentenced inmate. Program Participation & Recidivism– 2017 14.8% of the 121 inmates that participated in some type of programing in 2017 returned to the facility as a sentenced inmate. Nearly 48% of the inmates that recidivated since 2017 did not participate in any programing. Admissions Data – 2018 Total admissions accounted for 1,947 inmates 37% of inmates were identified for medical detox protocols. Of the individuals detoxing 55% were poly-substance users & 45% were single substance users.

Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office County Corrections Admissions Data 2018 Rev. 2018 Medical Detox is defined as any inmate who has been admitted to the facility and both self identifies and symptomatically identifies with physical withdrawals associated with detoxification from substances. Poly substance and single substance are almost equally as popular. Though this could be a flaw with inmates self identifying 37% of inmates admitted to the facility within 2018, were placed on Medical detox.
