Cultural Identity How does our culture and our individual experience influence our identity (who we are)?

Warm Up: List 5 factors in life that you think contribute to how YOU form your identity (How you define who you are). Include things like culture, friends, family etc. Write 1 sentence for each explaining HOW they help make up who you are. (6-7 minutes)

Cultural Identity Essential Question: What determines one’s identity? Objective: SWBAT analyze the idea of identity by answering guiding questions.

Identity Culture who someone is the qualities, beliefs, etc., that make a particular person or group different from others Culture the beliefs, customs, arts, etc., of a particular society, group, place, or time a particular society that has its own beliefs, ways of life, art, etc

Lizzie During the video, I want you to take notes on Lizzie’s identity. How does she explain WHO she is? What impacts her identity? How does SHE determine her identity? What is your personal response, reaction, feeling about Lizzie’s story? After the video and notes, please share with your GROUP. Have ONE person be the recorder to write down your SEED*. *Write ONE major “SEED” your group would like to contribute to a group discussion. This can be a question, comment, reaction, etc. Be prepared to share.
