3 Vocab (10 minutes) Factor: a number that divides evenly into another number Greatest Common Factor: the largest factor shared by two or more whole numbers Square Numbers: the product of an integer and itself (ex: 9 3x3)

4 Example GCF of 16 and 24  start by listing the factors of each number
16: 1, 2, 4, 8, 16 24: 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 12, 24 Tips for listing factors: -Think of factor pairs (1x16, 2x8, 4x4) 5 minutes

6 GCF Word Problems Look for the key word GREATEST!
Kiara baked 30 oatmeal cookies and 48 chocolate chip cookies to package in plastic containers for her friends at school. She wants to divide the cookies into identical containers so that each container has the same number of each kind of cookie. If she wants each container to have the greatest number of cookies possible, how many plastic containers does she need? 6 minutes
