Partnership for Success (PFS) goals To promote emotional health, prevent onset, reduce the progression of substance abuse in high-need communities in Texas. To reduce substance abuse related consequences in Texas communities. To build substance abuse prevention capacity and infrastructure at the state and community levels. To align funding to support statewide efforts.

IMPORTANT TERMS ENVIRONMENTAL STRATEGY- Impact, access, availability, policy enforcement, community norms and media PROTECTIVE FACTORS- A characteristic at the individual, family or community level that is associated with a lower likelihood of problem outcomes RISK FACTORS-A characteristic at the biological, psychological, family, community, or cultural level that precedes and is associated with a higher likelihood of problem outcomes EVIDENCE BASED-included in a federal registry of evidence-based interventions, reported in peer reviewed journals with positive effects, there is documented effectiveness supported y other sources of information and the consensus experts.

LAWSUITS AGAINST OPIOID MANUFACTURES AND DISTRIBUTORS Overstating the benefits of prescription opioids Downplaying the risks of opioid use Aggressively marketing these drugs to physicians Failing to monitor, refuse, and report suspicious order of prescription opioids as required by law
