2 What is the Network? The Network is part of a state system built on the fundamental truth that thriving families are the cornerstone of Washington’s social, economic, and educational vitality. With authority granted by the state through an initiative of the people, this board is charged to decide priorities to create a caring community.

3 Purpose and Mission To reduce the number of children and youth in the Snoqualmie Valley who are at risk and increase the protective factors that enhance healthy living. To create a caring community of integrated systems promoting healthy children and families.

6 Organization Chart Funding streams: Orange represents the State Family Policy Council origination of the Network. Green is the Federal SAMHSA funding blended to support Network goals.

7 2010 Strategies and Initiatives Community communication, collaboration and coordination on prevention. – Board and Coalition structural and educational development – Bringing community together to achieve better health outcomes – Community-based Planning Projects (Key Leaders Summit) – Sector partner conversations and collaborative strategies – Sustainability Committee working on grants and funding Social Norms environmental strategies: – Media and Communications planning and implementation – Family Pledge and Resources distribution – Parent party liability brochure distribution – Prescription Drug “lock it, drop it, stop it” campaign – Rewarding outstanding volunteers at annual recognition event – Parenting skills development across the community – Prevention Scholarships Youth Councils lead the change they want to see in the world. – Training in Leadership and prevention – Organizing activities for teen service projects.

8 Changing Culture Parents set healthy expectations, monitor, and provide appropriate consequences for their children. Parents secure their alcohol, firearms, and prescription drugs. “There are lots of healthy teen activities in the Valley” Most kids don’t use.
