UR101 Cable Lay Barge Subocean took delivery of basic barge hull in Mar 07 and fully fitted out the UR101 barge for cable installation and burial activities 1000Te Carousel and associated Cable Lay Spread installed 3.0m Cable plough spread installed 8 point mooring spread with an additional 200Te pull ahead winch Track record of export and array cable installation work since May 07 .

Discoverer Cable Lay Barge Subocean took delivery of basic barge hull in Jan 09 and fully fitted out the Discoverer barge for cable installation and burial activities New 5500Te Carousel and associated Cable Lay Spread installed New 3.0m Cable plough spread installed New 8 point mooring spread with an additional 200Te pull ahead winch Track record of export and array cable installation work since May 07 .

Polar Prince DP2 Cable Lay Vessel On charter until 2011 with options to extend Subocean took delivery in Aug 09 Cable lay spread installed Carousel or reel based system – project dependent 3.0m Cable plough spread Integrated ROV spread within vessel Heave compensated crane for concrete mattress installation and WTG works A-Frame launch / recovery system for cable plough 180 Te Bollard Pull Will conduct mainly array cable work .

UR141 Transportation Barge UR141 Transportation barge initially with option to convert to full installation barge in future One year Charter party signed May 09 with four by one year options Ordered 7000Te carousel (based on existing 5500Te design) and Cable Load-out Spread placed in May 09 UR141 Transportation Barge will be complete 1Q 2010. UR141 Transportation barge will be used to transport cables to the UK from Cable Manufacturers off the critical path Can handle both export and array cables shipments Can handle cable reels with 7000Te carousel in place due to large deck space availability .

Where is the UK market going to get these services ? Presently the majority of the large value supply and services are coming from outside the UK This needs to be changed and a new offshore renewables industry created within this country by UK companies which can eventually be exported globally as we have done in the Oil & Gas sector

How do supply and service companies get into the Market There are no specific requirements from a regularity perspective with regards to getting into the market although having for example the Quality Certification ISO 9001 – 2000 would be an advantage but not having it is not a barrier to entry as your product and service is required in a supply and demand situation and this certification can be achieved at a later date Research the Internet as most of the developers have websites associated with each individual project they are involved in which identifies the key contacts with their organisation Get in contact with various associations like Aberdeen Renewable Energy Group, Subsea UK, Scottish Renewables, Scottish Enterprise and other UK Regional Agencies, Engineering Industries Council, British Wind Energy Association and the European Wind Energy Association as they can all assist from a supply chain perspective Attend Share Fares like this put on by Scottish Enterprise and the Crown Estates Attend conferences like the All Energy (Aberdeen in May 10) and the British Wind Energy Offshore Conference (Liverpool in June 10)
