What is an indirect object? Indirect object is the person or thing who receives the DO Sometimes, we give this information in a prep phrase, but sometimes we want to say it faster with an IO

Indirect object Did you give the dog its food? (IO) Did you give its food to the dog? (no IO, prep phrase) I sent my mom a card. (IO) I sent a card to my mom. (no IO, prep phrase) I made Mrs. Navarro some cookies. (IO) I made some cookies for Mrs. Navarro. (no IO, prep phrase)

How to find & use an indirect object Indirect object always comes between the verb and the DO Can’t have an IO without a DO Subject + Verb + IO + DO To find it, first find the DO. Then think, who or what is receiving this DO? Who is it for or to?
