Career vs Job

Job Definition Position in which one is employed A specific piece of work to be done for a set fee: an expensive repair job. The object to be worked on. Something resulting from or produced by work.

Job Means to an end May lead to a career Help pay for college Make extra money Help pay bills May lead to a career

Career Definition A profession for which one trains and which is undertaken as permanent calling

Career You build during a lifetime Excites you Use your best skills and talents Fits with your lifestyle

Career Planning Ability to look ahead and think about where you are going and what steps you need to get there

Questions to ask yourself… What are your personal interests and skills? Skills activities that you do well What are you good in, what do you enjoy, what is your personality, your unique selling point

Questions to ask yourself… What are your values, and how will they affect your career? Values the principles you live by and the beliefs that are important to you
