Arik Vargason’s Solar System Our solar system is made up of eight planets that or bit the sun. It is also made of astroids,moons,and lots more. The solar system includes the sun and other objects.

The Sun The sun gives life to the earth. The sun is 4.5 years old. The sun is only 1 of the millions and millions of the stars in the galaxy.

Mercury Mercury is the closest to the sun however it is 36million miles away from the sun. Mercury's orbit only lasts for 88 days. Mercury takes 59 days to complete a full turn on its axis.

Venus Venus is the brightest planet in the solar system. Venus is as big as the moon. Venus is called the morning and evening star.

Earth Earth is 70 present water. A magnetic field is a blanket to the earth. Earth’s atmosphere keeps it safe from meteors.

Mars Mars is 141;633;260 miles from the sun. A year lasts 687days almost twice as long as on earth. A day on Mars is 24 hours and 37 minutes.

Asteroid Belt That space between 2.2 and 2.3. The Asteroid Belt is located in the middle of Mars and Jupiter. That space between 2.2 and 2.3. The belt is about 1 AU thick.

Jupiter Jupiter is the 5 out from the sun. It is two times massif than all other planets. It is made up of all gases.

Neptune Neptune is a gas giant. Neptune was formed closest to the sun. Neptune is the 8th planet.

Dwarf Planet Pluto Pluto is named after a Greek god. Pluto was discovered on February 18; 1930. Pluto is the largest dwarf planet.

Moon The Moon orbits the earth. The Moon formed a billion years ago. The moon is on synchronous rotation.

Galaxy The galaxy is a massive group of stars. The milky Way is our galaxy. The galaxy was discovered by Greeks.
