Who This was America’s first declaration of war, and it was on Britain.

What Britain burned the capital Battle of Fort McHenry was where the start spangled banner was written Treaty of Ghent was signed ending the war. Battle of New Orleans occurred without knowing of the treaty.

When The war lasted two years: 1812 – 1814

Where The war took place in the eastern and the southern United States.

Why American merchants were caught in the middle of French and British war at sea. Both tried to block U.S. from trading with the other, so Pres. Jackson embargoed both countries. Britain began “impressing” (kidnapping) American sailors from ships. War Hawks wanted war in order to capture Canada
