Egyptian Gods

Religion A set of beliefs and practices a group of people use to answer questions about the unknown

The ancient Egyptians had strong religions beliefs The ancient Egyptians had strong religions beliefs. Worshipping the gods was part of their everyday lives Many Egyptian religious customs focused on what happened when people died.

Egyptians practiced polytheism Before the 1st Dynasty each village worshipped its own gods. During the 1sr Dynasty the people were expected to worship the same gods. They built temples all over, that collected payments from both the government and worshippers. Overtime certain cities became centers for the worship of certain gods.

The Egyptians had gods for nearly everything (sun, sky, earth, etc…. ) The Egyptians had gods for nearly everything (sun, sky, earth, etc….). Many gods mixed human and animal forms.

Osiris A mummified man wearing a white cone-like headdress with feathers Osiris was the god of the dead, and ruler of the underworld.

Anubis Man with a jackal head Anubis was the god of embalming and the dead. Since jackals were often seen in cemeteries, the ancient Egyptians believed thatAnubis watched over the dead.

The ancient Egyptians believed that Ra was swallowed every night by the sky goddess Nut, and was reborn every morning.
