Friction

Friction….. is a force that resists motion. occurs when two objects are pushed or pulled against each other. acts in the direction that is opposite of motion.

The strength of friction depends on: How hard the surfaces push together The types of surfaces involved

4 Types of Friction: Static: acts on objects that are not moving Sliding: occurs when two solid surfaces slide over each other Rolling: occurs when an object rolls across a surface Fluid: occurs when a solid object moves through a fluid
