Planning & Implementation of MGNREGA in Convergence with NRLM for Women Empowerment

Major Objective of Mahatma Gandhi NREGA NRLM To launch a multi pronged attack on the multiple dimensions of poverty in a concreted manner. This can be done only through a process of demand-led- convergence. MGNREGA It aims to enhance livelihood security in rural areas by providing at least 100 days of wage employment in a financial year to every household whose adult members volunteer to do unskilled manual work.

How SHG can Support Implementation of MGNREGA Awareness Generation through Social Mobilisation and Inter personal Communication Identification of Vulnerable Households for implementation of schemes in the IBS Sector. Identification of smaller schemes for vulnerable households involving women workers. Mapping the existing job card holders family. Issuance of new job card. Generation of demand.

How SHG can Support Implementation of MGNREGA 7. Participation in the planning and preparation of Labour Budget. a. House - to - House Visit to meet the job card holders to identify the members willing to work under MGNREGA, duration of work, seasonality of work demand. b. Prospective schemes where assets can be created. c. Works where women participation is easier

How SHG can Support Implementation of MGNREGA 8. Participation in monitory and supervision of work. a. SHG may engaged their members a supervisor at all work sites. b. Members may be co-opted in social audit team, vigilance and monitoring committees. c. SHG member may be part of social audit teams at GP Level.

How MGNREGA Support SHG MGNREGA itself can trigger formation of more SHGs for implementation of collective schemes. Individual and collective assets for SHG members can be developed through MGNREGS which can further be used for livelihood generation by the groups. Livelihood support activities can be taken by SHG under MGNREGS
