Vision of ELSA: A just world in which there is respect for human dignity and cultural diversity.

Strategic goals 2018 ELSA shall constantly develop awareness and knowledge of human rights ELSA shall develop its own Human Rights programme ELSA shall establish human rights partnerships on all levels ELSA shall organise an annual ELSA Day with participation of each Local Group

What is ELSA Day? Not a birthday of ELSA A unique Human Rights forum where we discuss national and international standards of protection and implementation of Human Rights The forum consists of coordinated ELSA events from all over ELSA network taking place the same day

Aim To jointly demonstrate our Human Rights commitment by providing legal education opportunities to law students Raising awareness about Human Rights within the whole ELSA network at the same time Creation of a forum where law students and young lawyers can gather and discuss a current theme at various activities Consolidation of ELSA network Produce concrete results of a high standard and increase/raise the visibility and recognition of ELSA all over Europe

A little bit of history 1st edition: 20th March 2013 Countries involved: 30 Events organised: 144 – Focus Children Rights 2nd edition: 5th March 2014 Countries involved: 29 Events organised: 173 – Focus HR on Internet 3rd edition: 26th November 2014 Countries involved: 33 Events organised: 133 – Focus Social Responsibility 4th edition: 25th November 2015 Countries involved: 32 Event organised: 143 – Focus Gender Equality

How to proceed? Organise as many activities as possible which are feasible and be creative! 1 National Coordinator per national group Local and probably national events/actions Specification form → Materials from Council of Europe Specification and evaluation form → eligibility for the ELSA Day competition 30th November → the Day!

What to organise? Legal education (traditional types of events), but there are no limitations and creativity is always welcomed! – Main topic HR, preferably on the year’s focus. Show us your events and make an impact! - videos, pictures etc. are more than welcome Previous ELSA Day winners: 2nd edition: Human Library 3rd edition: Solidarity event 4th edition: Short movies festival
