Presentation transcript:

Lunches for Mainspring House News from Room 211 Month Ending November 30, 2018 Our Month What’s Coming Up November has been a very busy month. It has also been a month full time off for half days and holidays. In math, we have completed unit 2. We learned the 6, 7, and 8 tables in multiplication and division. In fact, we have learned all of the multiplication and division facts through the 10’s! In Social Studies we continued our review of the Pilgrims and Wampanoag. We also used Pic Collage to make a digital poster of Massachusetts landmarks. Narrative writing has been our focus in writing. We are using interesting leads and also making sure our pieces make sense. We completed the realistic fiction unit in reading. In science, we have been experimenting with the wheel-and-axle. After building a few different wheel-and-axle systems, we tested out our theories on a paper cup assembly. Before Thanksgiving, we met with our kindergarten buddies to make lunches for Mainspring House. Math – The Unit 2 assessment will be given on December 3rd. Our next unit, Unit 3, covers measurement, time, and graphing. Science – We’ll be completing our study of motion this month. Our next unit is weather. Social Studies – This month we will be studying the Puritans and colonial life in Massachusetts. ELA – We will be reviewing non-fiction text features. We will also be using details to find the main idea. Thank Yous Thank you to all of the families who were able to come to parent-teacher conferences. It was nice to meet with you about your child’s progress. Thank you to the families who were able to assist with the Mainspring House lunch assembly. Thank you to the students of Room 211 for their fact practice. Their effort shows on the timed tests! Notices Lunches for Mainspring House Prior to the Thanksgiving break, the third grade family traditions project was assigned. It is due on December 17th. Directions went home on November 19th. They can also be found on my website. Teamwork Mrs. Leary
