Class Website, Daily Binder, Weekly Newsletters, Homework and Welcome to first grade! I am very excited to begin the new school year with you! This year your child will experience wonderful learning accomplishments! I look forward to working with you to help your child achieve success! Arrival/Dismissal School begins at 8:55. Students are allowed in the school building at 8:25. Regular attendance is important for every child. If your child is absent, please send an excuse note. Dismissal begins at 3:55. Breakfast and Lunch It is very important for your child to eat a nutritional breakfast in the morning. Breakfast is served in the cafeteria before school beginning at 8:25. Please make sure that lunch money is placed in a sealed envelope with your child’s name on it. Birthdays Feel free to celebrate your child’s birthday with the class by sending in a snack! Please contact me in advance so I can make adequate arrangements for our day. Snacks and Water We will have a daily snack time in the afternoon. The students are allowed ONE food item. No drinks are allowed during snack time, other than water. During the day each student will be allowed to have a bottle of water; the bottle must have a lid that does not open. Please make sure to send a snack with your child because class snacks will not be provided. Class Website, Daily Binder, Weekly Newsletters, Homework and Graded Papers Class Website: is where to find all of our classroom information! Daily Binders will go home everyday! This is my tool to communicate with parents, so please take the time to check the binder for important information DAILY. A behavior chart will be included in the daily binder. Please initial the behavior chart daily. Weekly Newsletter: I will provide a weekly newsletter on Friday that can be found on the class website. It will explain all of our exciting upcoming events happening in our class! Homework: Is located on the weekly newsletter and is due on Friday. Graded papers: will be sent home on Friday in a separate test folder. Please sign and return all D and F papers. In addition, you will need to sign and return the test folder every Monday.

First grade will now have grades the first nine weeks! Volunteers Behavior Plan I encourage positive behavior through our positive classroom expectations. We will fill buckets to encourage positive behavior towards each other. The bucket represents how we make one another feel and the nice things we do for each other. When the student’s bucket is full, he or she will receive a sticker on their name card to keep track of how many times the bucket was filled. We also have a daily behavior chart to track how students behave on a daily basis. This information will be placed on the chart found in the daily take home folder. Any misbehavior will be documented on the behavior chart for you to view. Money Please place all money in an envelope with your child’s name on it, the amount and what it is for. In addition, it will help to purchase a zipper pencil pouch to place in the front of the daily take home binder to ensure the money is not lost. Grades First grade will now have grades the first nine weeks! Volunteers I welcome anyone interested in helping out! Please let me know! All parents must report to the office to ensure safety for all students. I look forward to working with you and your child. Please do not hesitate to contact me for any questions or concerns. Email is a great way to contact me and receive a quick response. You may also contact the school office and leave a message. I will return your call as soon as possible. I look forward to a successful, happy and safe year for your child. Email: Sammi.Copeland@stpsb.org Phone: 985-643-5693 Thank you, Sammi Copeland
