What is a tablet? Mobile computer. Screen, circuitry, and battery all-in-one. Touch screen input. On-screen keyboard. Usually larger than a smartphone; 7 to 12 inches or larger.

First consumer tablet was the GRIDPad. Brief History First consumer tablet was the GRIDPad. Released in 1989.
