Direct Characterization The author describes the character using direct statements. Ex. She was a patient child.
Indirect Characterization The character’s traits are suggested through the character’s actions, thoughts, and words Ex. She tapped her foot loudly, thinking, “He should hurry up!”
The main character- not always the good guy! Protagonist The main character- not always the good guy!
