Lesson 4.1 How do you write the prime factorization of numbers? You will use a factor tree to help you. Once factored, you will write the number as a product of its prime factors.

Lesson 4.2 How do you find the greatest common factor of two or more numbers? Write the prime factorization of each number. Find the common prime factors. Multiply the factors. This is your GCF.

Lesson 4.3 How do you simplify fractions? Write the prime factorization of the numerator and denominator. Divide out the common factor. Simplify.

Lesson 4.4 How do you find the least common multiple of two or more numbers? Write the prime factorization of each number. Circle the greatest power of each prime factor. Find the product of the circled factors.

Lesson 4.5 How do you compare and order fractions and mixed numbers? Find the least common denominator of the fractions. Convert mixed numbers to improper fractions first. Write equivalent fractions. Compare the numerators. List the original fractions in order.

Lesson 4.6 How do you multiply and divide expressions with exponents? To multiply powers with the same base, add their exponents. To divide two powers with the same base, subtract their exponents.

Lesson 4.7 How do you simplify expressions with negative exponents? To simplify expressions with negative exponents, reciprocate. If the negative exponent is in the numerator, move it to the denominator. If the negative exponent is in the denominator, move it to the numerator. An exponent of 0 turns the expression into the number 1.

Lessons 4.8 How do you read and write numbers using scientific notation? To write numbers in scientific notation you will move the decimal point and multiply the number by a power of 10. If you move to the left, you have a positive exponent. If you move to the right, you have a negative exponent. Remember numbers must be between 1 and 10.
