God as Creator The Nicene Creed talks of God being creator when it states ‘maker of heaven and earth…’ The main account of creation comes from Genesis 1. The account talks about ‘God’ and the ‘Spirit of God’. This shows the oneness of God – God is both Father and Spirit. John 1: 1-3 Another creation account is in John 1 (The Gospel of John). This account mentions ‘In the beginning was the Word’. Listen here. Who might the ‘Word’ be referring to? Who did they mean by ‘He’ and ‘The Word became flesh’? Go to website and click on the speaker sign. It will read all of chapter 1 so pause when you feel necessary John refers to John the Baptist who told people Jesus was coming.
