Discussion of Assignments

“What is the breakdown of our grades?” Where will you find this information? Look at the syllabus and find the answer Breakdown: 45% Quizzes & Assignments (i.e. Q&A) 20% Participation (anything besides the poster that is not a Q&A) 35% Poster Presentation So what assignments go into the Quizzes & Assignments Grade?

Quizzes & Assignments Quiz #1: Nature of Science Exercise 7: Literature Search Quiz #2: Searching the Literature & Ethics Final Topic Title Submission Quiz #3: Tables and Graphs Article #1 Assignment Article #2 Assignment Note: “Article #3 Annotation Only Assignment” will be worth 20 participation points

Poster Grade More details will be provided later, but the general breakdown is as follows: Submission of the title for the Poster Session Program Booklet (5%) Oral presentation of the poster (15%) Final Poster (65%) Peer Review of two other posters (10%) Mini Review (5%)

How will you know our expectations? See course booklet, p 4-5 We will discuss this next Wednesday (since quiz on Monday) so be sure to review and come prepared to discuss

Mini Review… What is it for? You pull together your topic and resources to shows how all the pieces fit together. Demonstrates your understanding of the topic. your writing skills. your thorough preparation of your topic title during the first half of the semester. Topic cannot change without penalty But you can make corrections that I indicate in my editorial comments regarding punctuation, wording etc. Do not add missing organisms, phenomena, etc. Meet with me if you have questions regarding appropriate modifications
