The water planet Investigation 7 Parts 1 & 2

The water planet by the numbers About 70% of the earth’s surface is covered by water. 99.4% of water on earth is inaccessible to humans. It is either salt water or in glaciers/polar ice caps.

The simple water cycle

Other Water locations In addition to oceans, water can be located: Rivers and streams Lakes and ponds Atmosphere Aquifers (underground oceans) or groundwater Glaciers, Snow, and other ice Soil moisture Water in living things

Different forms of water by location In the atmosphere: water vapor, ice, snow, hail, sleet, rain In glaciers: Ice, solid water In groundwater: liquid, ice if cold enough, or as water vapor in spaces between rocks and in soil
