Ministries Expectation of NGOs in the Health Sector Yayah A. Conteh Donor NGO Liaison Officer

Collaboration and Cordination Effective Collaboration and Cordination with MoHS in Implementing Health Activities within the National health Plan and agreed Proposal all over the country.

Role of the DNLO To coordinate and facilitate the activities of the Health NGOs in achieving the agreed objectives or Goals.

Objectives of MoHS To maintain and improve the health of all Sierra Leonean resident within the country. To ensure that quality health services are available and affordable to all, especially vulnerable groups.

Role of the NGOs To compliment the activities of the Ministry of Health and Sanitation as agreed during registration or annual renewal to achieve its objectives.

Activities and projects Many activities and projects, are being carried out and planned by partners to compliment government’s effort all over the country. Activities include, preventive and curative care, construction and rehabilitation of health facilities, provision of drugs, medical supplies and equipments, capacity building for technical and administrative personnel, sensitization, advocacy, outreach management and facilities management.

PARTNERS - NGOs – there are currently about 100 NGOs, contributing 80 billion Leones in 2005 and 70 billion Leones in 2006 - Faith Based Organizations - Community Based Organizations - Charities - Bilateral - Private Health Institutions/Facilities.
