Bring Your Own Technology 2018-2019

BYOT Expectations Students ARE permitted to bring the following electronic devices for use at school: laptop computers, netbook computers, tablets, e-readers, phones, and mp3 audio players. Students are not permitted to access the school’s network or wi-fi in the classrooms. A Cabarrus County Schools’ Technology Acceptable Use Policy, signed by both the student and a parent, must be on file with the school. A new form must be read and signed each school year.

BYOT Expectations Students ARE permitted to do the following on their electronic devices: send and receive text messages, access the internet, use school appropriate applications/software, work on assignments, use them during the class period if doing so has been approved by the classroom teacher.

BYOT Expectations Teachers are solely in charge of students’ use of technology within their classrooms.

BYOT Expectations Administration, faculty, and staff may request at any time that students turn off their technology. Failure to follow this direction will result in disciplinary action and possible revocation of BYOT privileges. Students may NOT attempt to use any software, utilities or other means to access internet sites or content that is blocked by Cabarrus County Schools internet filters.

BYOT Expectations

BYOT Expectations Privately owned electronic devices are subject to all school rules/policies. It should be noted this includes, but is not limited to all school rules/policies involving bullying/harassment, theft, search & seizure, the issuance of threats, confiscation, profanity, sexual activity, and use of the devices in the commission of crimes and/or violations of school rules and policies.

BYOT Expectations Neither Cabarrus County Schools nor Cox Mill High School will accept responsibility for any lost or stolen privately-owned electronic device. Responsibility is also disavowed for the repair, and/or troubleshooting of any malfunctioning privately- owned electronic device.

Technology Smart!! Technology is a great tool and resource that can enhance and elevate your school career. Choose to use it wisely!
