2 BYOT Student Agreement
The use of technology to provide educational material is not a necessity but a privilege. A student does not have the right to use his or her laptop, cell phone or other electronic device while at school. When abused, privileges will be taken away. When respected, they will benefit the learning environment as a whole. Students and parents/guardians participating in B.Y.O.T. must adhere to the Student Code of Conduct, as well as all Board policies, particularly Internet Acceptable Use (Policy IFBG) and Internet Safety (Policy IFBGE). Additionally, technology: Must be in silent mode while on school campuses and while riding school buses. May not be used to cheat on assignments or tests, or for non-instructional purposes (such as making personal phone calls and text/instant messaging). May not be used to record, transmit or post photographic images or video of a person, or persons on campus during school activities and/or hours. May only be used to accesses files on computer or internet sites which are relevant to the classroom curriculum. Games are not permitted. Students may only use technology when it is a BYOT day in their class. All other times, technology should not be visible.

3 BYOT Rules: Unless a teacher indicates that it is appropriate for students to use technology specifically for a BYOT lesson or activity, there should be NO technology use from 8:45am-Dismissal. Phones will need to be in student’s locker or designated secured place in the classroom when not a BYOT day. -No technology usage in the hallways in between classes. -No technology usage during lunch. -No music. -If a student is using technology without a teacher’s permission, his/her technology should be taken, and the reporting teacher should write a discipline slip (appropriate discipline consequences will also be followed).

4 Procedures if Technology is being used inappropriately during school hours
Offense # Consequence 1 -Student will receive a discipline slip. -Reporting teacher will keep technology until the end of the school day. 2 -Reporting teacher will send technology to the front office for a parent to pick up. -Student should not use technology for one week. -Student will serve a silent lunch 3 -Student should not use technology for two weeks. 4 -Student will receive an office referral.

5 How will I know if it is a BYOT day?
Each teacher will post a BYOT sign to let you know when it is appropriate to bring your technology in class. These posters will be posted in the morning so make sure to check during HR hours and locker breaks.

6 How often is BYOT? BYOT varies between classes. Some classes might use technology every day, and some might use it twice a week.

7 What apps do we use? Many apps can be beneficial for you to download before the first day of school: Remind Kahoot Quizizz Google Classroom Google Docs Google Drive Google Slides Itslearning Infinite Campus Newsela ** Your content teachers will give you any others that may be useful as the year goes on **

8 What if I need to reach my parent?
Getting caught texting your parent in the classroom, bathroom, or hallway WITHOUT permission COULD result in a BYOT violation. Let the teacher know, make sure to ask!
