1 Personal Electronic Device Policy

2 Overview Students are permitted to use their personal electronic devices before school, after school and when outside during lunch. This applies to, but is not limited to, all electronic devices and accessories such as tablets, PC’s wireless tablets, e-readers, iPods, MP3 players, camera phones, digital cameras, smart phones, laptops, headphones, ear buds or blue tooth ear pieces.

3 Acceptable Use Devices must remain out of sight, turned off or on silent during the instructional day and during class unless the teacher authorizes device usage for a class related learning purpose.

4 Acceptable Use If a teacher gives permission for the use of a personal device for classroom communication, research, note taking or reading, that is the sole purpose to which these devices should be put.

5 Acceptable Use Students found violating the Acceptable Use and the RLMS Personal Electronic Device Use Policies will lose their electronic equipment privileges.

6 Student Use Students may use their electronic devices:
Before the 9:15 a.m. bell. Once the bell has rung all electronic devices must be immediately put away before entering the building.

7 Student Use Students may use their electronic devices:
During lunch when outside on the front ramp. Electronic devices must be put away before re-entering the building.

8 Student Use Students may use their electronic devices:
At dismissal after students have exited the building. With teacher direction for instructional purposes.

9 Student Use Students may NOT use their electronic devices:
Between classes During water or restroom breaks With sound amplifying portable speakers

10 Responsibility RLMS does not require personal electronic devices to be brought on campus by students for instructional purposes. When on campus, a student’s personal electronic device is the sole responsibility of the student. We will not be held responsible or liable for damage, loss or theft of a personal device.
