Diary Entry # 1: Language Some say that without language, complex thoughts are impossible. Many people even agree that language is what makes humans capable of such great accomplishments. The notion behind Newspeak is that by simplifying and dumbing down language, you simplify and dumb down those who use it. Do you think this is possible? What about texting? Do you think this is a modern form of Newspeak? Have you seen “texting language” bleed into your academic writings? Do you think there are things that exist which we don’t understand because we lack the language to describe or experience it? Explain in detail.
