We will know how to form regular verbs in the present tense. We will start to learn some of the irregular verbs in the present tense and aim to know all of these soon. 2

Verbs Verbs are doing words. They are actions. I ran quickly. She thought about it a lot. We go out every day. They will visit the historic castle.

Present Tense The present tense is used to talk about something which is happening now. In English we have more than one way of expressing the present tense but in French it is more straightforward. J’étudie. I study. I am studying. I do study.

Conjugation The starting point for putting any verb into a tense is getting the infinitive form of the verb. The infinitive is only form of the verb to be found in a dictionary. The infinitive translates into the ‘to ____’ or the ‘ing’ form of the verb in English. manger (to eat/eating) finir (to finish/finishing)
