Based on conversations/feedback from staff and students, we try to understand career challenges faced by different groups across the Faculty, and address them through policy changes, new initiatives and culture change. We work within the frameworks of a number of accreditation schemes, including Athena SWAN (signed up 2009) and the Race Equality charters (signing up to this academic year), the Stonewall Global Diversity Champion Programme (signed up 2016) and the Business Disability Forum (signed up 2017) The Faculty holds 5 Silver and 4 Bronze Athena SWAN awards, which are national awards that recognise the work going on in universities towards achieving gender equality. The Faculty is now preparing an application for the entire Faculty, which includes not only academic and research staff and students, but all our professional staff too. We also run a wide range of activities and events to promote and support our work
