Why should we care about Athena SWAN ? Aim to promote a more positive working environment for all staff and students: To be recognized as a Department of choice To demonstrate commitment to gender equality to staff, students, funders, research councils etc. To stimulate debate about good practice at a University/Department level

What is an Athena SWAN award? At a university and/or department level Bronze = department working to promote gender equality and to address challenges particular to discipline Silver = significant record of activity and achievement Gold = significant record of achievement and demonstrating impact of implemented activities
