November 14, 2017 Standards: Cite the textual evidence that most strongly supports an analysis of what the text says explicitly as well as inferences drawn from the text. EQ: To what extent can a perfect or ideal society exist? How can I correctly cite textual evidence?

Two Ways to Cite Textual Evidence Explain the context of the scene and then use a quote from the text. Example: Nervous that all of the other Elevens had been called except him, Jonas “hunched his shoulders and tried to make himself smaller in his seat” (Lowry 73).

Two Ways to Cite Textual Evidence Tell the reader that you are going to use textual evidence. Example: An example of the crowd’s reaction to Jonas being skipped occurs when Jonas “saw a worried look on the face of his group leader” (Lowry 73).

Begin with a transition An example of the crowd’s reaction to Jonas being skipped occurs when Jonas “saw a worried look on the face of his group leader” (Lowry 73).
