ABE Study Abroad Programs Why Study Abroad? There are over 400 programs available to University of Illinois students. The following are programs that fit well for students in ABE. Consider your interests, academic goals, and geography and talk to both your academic advisor and the College of ACES study abroad office about what fits your needs. Studying Abroad gives students an edge in the job market; You can impress prospective employers by gaining a global outlook and diverse perspective. On the back of this sheet are some suggested programs that vary from semester to summer. How do I get started? Go to www.studyabroad.illinois.edu and watch the “First Steps Video”. Then do some searches for where you want to go, and what program looks the best for you. Program Summaries Winter Break Programs ACES in Costa Rica: Soil Diversity and Land Use NRES 285 - introduction to soil diversity and associated land use systems ACES in the Dominican Republic: ACES 298 - Discovering Food, Human, and Environmental Systems of the Caribbean Islands ACES in Jamaica: Discovering Ag. Systems ACES in Puerto Rico: Sustainable Biosystems ABE 199 - introduction to strategies for improving sustainability of future Biosystems ACES in Sierra Leone: ACE 499: Sustainability - Agriculture, Environment, and Governance Semester Programs ACES in Argentina FAUBA: Semester or Year 200-level Spanish language req. to enroll in courses. No language req. for research internship option. ACES in Australia: Semester or Year Study on exchange at the University of Sydney ACES in Brazil USP-ESALQ: Semester or Year 200-level Portuguese Language req. Courses in ag., economics, biology, and environmental management ACES in Ireland at UCD: Semester or Year ABE Students must apply through IPENG. A variety of courses in engineering and agriculture are offered. ACES in Spain at Comillas: Semester or Year Students may take courses in Engineering, Business, Political Science, and International Relations. Students may have to take a Spanish language intensive course ACES in Taiwan at NTU: Semester or Year Variety of courses Fall runs from September to January and Spring is February to the end of June ACES in the Netherlands: Semester or Year Courses in Social. Life, and Environmental Sciences as well as Food and Technology ACES in UK Reading: Semester or Year Study on exchange at the University of Reading ACES Study and Intern Australia: SP Semester Take a combination of courses with an internship component during the second half of the semester ACES Study and Intern in Argentina: Sem. or Year Enroll in Spanish Language, Culture of Wine Prod., Argentine Regional Agribusiness, and an internship ACES/ENGR in Brazil Sao Paulo: Sem. or Year Weekly language course with a cultural course and two technical courses taught in Portuguese ACES/ENGR in Brazil in Vicosa: Sem. or Year Courses in Agricultural, Biological, Exact, and Human Sciences Summer Programs ACES in Argentina - FAUBA: Semester 4-week intensive summer program of an elective taught in English and a Spanish language course ACES/Engineering in Brazil: Semester Intensive Portuguese language course with either an independent study, research, or internship ACES ABE/TSM Summer Work Project in South Africa at UKZN: Work with South African students on practical engineering-based projects that address local need ACES in New Zealand: Study and Intern Two week summer national study tour program followed by a four week internship ACES in Taiwan at NTU: Study and Research Four week discovery course with an optional research internship for extra credits ACES Study & Intern in Australia: Choose two units of study, one of which can be an internship placement ACES/Engineering in China: Faculty Led Industry and cultural trips with 3 credit hours of research at Zhejiang University For More Programs and Information: http://academics.aces.illinois.edu/study-abroad
