1 NRES Study Abroad Programs
Why Study Abroad? There are over 400 programs available to University of Illinois students. The following are programs that fit well for students in NRES. Consider your interests, academic goals, and geography and talk to both your academic advisor and the College of ACES study abroad office about what fits your needs. Studying Abroad gives students an edge in the job market; You can impress prospective employers by gaining a global outlook and diverse perspective. On the back of this sheet are some suggested programs that vary from semester to summer. How do I get started? Go to and watch the “First Steps Video”. Then do some searches for where you want to go, and what program looks the best for you. 2 Program Summaries Winter Break Programs ACES in Tanzania: Wildlife Management (NRES 285 credit) Faculty Led Courses in Natural resource management and Environmental policy ACES in Sierra Leone-Winter Break (ACE 499 credit): Faculty Led Courses in Sustainability- Agriculture, Environment, and Governance ACES in Costa Rica: Soil Diversity & Land Use (NRES 285 credit) Faculty Led Courses in Soil Diversity and Land Use Semester Programs ACES in Vienna: Semester Summer Study Tour: 2 weeks and fall semester class ACES in Sierra Leone: Semester Courses in International trade, and Ag production systems ACES in the Netherlands: Wageningen University Semester or Year Courses in International Development Theory and Practice, Native Language and an internship or research project. ACES in Sweden: SLU in Uppsala Semester Courses in Gen-eds and personalized internship experience ACES in New Zealand: Massey University Semester and Summer Courses in Business, Political science and Law. Majority of students volunteer in the community. ACES Provider: Thailand, ISDSI Semester Courses in international development, health, and culture ACES American Farm School in Greece: Semester IAGE School for Field Studies (SFS): Semester Environmental Field Studies Abroad Countries Available: Tanzania, Australia, Costa Rica , Turks and Caicos Islands ACES in Taiwan at NTU: Semester or Year Variety of courses Fall runs from September to January and Spring is February to the end of June Summer Abroad ACES in Botswana: Wildlife conservation and Communities (NRES 285 credit) Summer Summer Study Tour: 2 weeks and fall semester class ACES in Brazil at University of Viscosa: Semester Courses in Globalization of food production and consumption, Business management and Marketing ACES in Taiwan at NTU: Biodiversity, Agriculture, and Culture of Taiwan (NRES 285 credit) Summer Summer: 4 weeks of courses and a 4 week internship on a farm Semester courses in Food supply chains and Public economics ACES Study & Intern in New Zealand: Massey University Semester or Summer Courses in Int’l business, Agrotourism and Hands-on experiences ACES Summer and Intern in Greece: American Farm School Semester or Summer Courses in Culture of food, Food marketing and business, and Italian For More Programs and Information:
