Our Daily Schedule 7:15- 7:50 Homeroom 7:50- 8:45 Writing, Grammar, Spelling 8:45- 9:05 Whole Group Reading 9:05- 9:30 Guided Reading 9:30- 9:45 Snack & Math Spiral Review 9:45- 10:50 Math and Guided Math 10:50- 11:24 Recess 11:24- 11:54 Lunch 11:54- 12:15 Read Aloud 12:15- 1:05 Specials 1:05- 2:00 Social Studies or Science 2:00- 2:10 Prepare for Dismissal 2:10 Car riders & ASP dismissed 2:15 Bus riders, Daycare, & Club dismissed

Attendance It is extremely important that your child is on time and at school unless due to sickness or an emergency. School begins at 7:50 The county pays close attention to absences and tardies. Please DO NOT come to school sick! Always send in a note explaining absence(s).

Transportation The bus is safe, reliable and green! No changes in daily transportation can be made after 1:30pm.   All changes must be made in writing. I cannot accept e-mails, only notes. (PMES student bus pass) Register for ASP…just in case!

Classroom Management We have high expectations for behavior and trying your personal best. We will use a fluid behavior chart. We will use the punch card system for rewarding good behavior. Agendas Seven Habits/ Leader in Me

Nuts and Bolts Water bottles: flip top or securely closed bottle, water only Please send a healthy snack with your child daily. We will be happy to schedule a conference with you, but please do not interrupt instructional time. Birthdays: - Please pass out treats during lunch time. - No balloons, goodie bags, etc. - Not allowed to pass out invitations

Homework Read for 20 minutes daily Practice spelling words Math facts

Reading, Phonics/ Spelling Focus lessons: introduce new strategies to use while reading. Guided Reading: Small group instruction that focuses on skills such as questioning, predicting, making connections, summarizing, etc. Independent Reading Read-Aloud to model enjoyment of literature and reinforce skills Phonics/ Spelling

Writer’s Workshop Writer’s Workshop teaches how to use the writing process. Student / Teacher Conferences 3 writing genres: narrative, informational, and opinion Letter Home Journals

Handwriting Focus on neatness and correct letter formation. Practicing at home would be very beneficial. Not allowing cursive handwriting

Math Whole group instruction Guided Math: Small group instruction that focuses on skills Math Journals: Improve problem solving skills by learning how to solve a math problem using pictures, numbers, and words. The goal is to have students learn mathematical vocabulary and how to explain their thinking.

Science and Social Studies Social Studies-Georgia Geography, local and state Government, Creek and Cherokee Native Americans, historical figures that have made contributions in GA history, and Economics. Science-Matter, Push & Pulls, Stars, Seasons, Shadows and the Moon, Environmental Changes, and Life Cycles Health-Emotional/Mental Health, Family living
