WELCOME to EN8 – ORAL SKILLS

Spoken interaction Talk about the following questions with your friend. What makes a good speaker? What makes a good listener? When is communication between people successful? What could happen if communication between people wasn’t successful? Do you have any personal experiences of such situations? What could make you more confident as a speaker of English?

The main goals: give you the basics of spoken English make you a better speaker make you a better listener help you discover your strengths and areas that need more work give you more confidence and get rid of (ease) inhibitions

EN8 Course Requirements You participate actively during the lessons. You complete the tasks you are given. in class at home, e.g. project work/presentations, weekly assignments (i.e. pronunciation tasks, listening assignments), any independent/pair work/group assignment given during the course, i.e. homework, self-evaluation You take part in the Oral Test prepared by the National Board of Education. You will attend all the classes unless you have a qualified reason to be absent – absences will not be looked upon positively! You need to be able to attend classes in order to complete this course.

Schedule The course plan includes the numbers of the themes and headlines of the communication skills we are going to deal with. Time will tell how many exercises we are able to complete during the course. Please, fill in the schedule with the tasks and deadlines given during the course.

EN8 Course Evaluation Oral Test; The evaluation is based on the Common European Framework of Reference: Oral Performance. Active participation during the course Tasks and assignments completed and handed in on time
