MY SYLLABUS - STANDARDS AND OBJECTIVES Alexandre Williams Health Science and Medical Technology Sports Medicine I

Objective: Establish and implement an emergency action plan. I will teach this objective through direct instruction and guided practice. Students will successfully create their own EAP to demonstrate learning.

Objective: Describe a systematic on-the-field primary and secondary survey. I will teach this objective through direct instruction and guided practice. Students will successfully perform a mock patient assessment to demonstrate learning.

Objective: Describe methods of handling emergencies associated with pre-existing medical conditions. I will teach this objective through direct instruction and guided practice. Students will successfully create their own informational handout to demonstrate learning.

Objective: Describe methods of handling emergencies associated with extreme environmental conditions. I will teach this objective through direct instruction and guided practice. Students will successfully create their own PowerPoint presentation to demonstrate learning.

Objective: Identify the principles of conditioning. I will teach this objective through direct instruction and guided practice. Students will successfully create their own strength and conditioning plan to demonstrate learning.

Objective: Explain the importance of nutrition in enhancing performance and preventing injuries. I will teach this objective through direct instruction and guided practice. Students will successfully write their own research paper to demonstrate learning.

Objective: Demonstrate the correct techniques for applying common taping procedures. I will teach this objective through direct instruction and guided practice. Students will successfully perform the proper taping techniques to demonstrate learning.

SUMMARY My students are learning the skills necessary for an entry-level job in sports medicine. My students are learning the necessary skills to perform well in college. My students are learning life skills.
