Introduction / Exposition Beginning of the story All needed background information is given setting characters back story basic conflict

Rising Action Conflict with antagonist becomes more complicated Secondary conflicts are introduced obstacles are put in front of protagonist

Climax usually the exciting part of the story “it” hits the fan Protagonist encounters change for better or for worse
