The Plot Diagram Introduction or Exposition Rising Action Climax Falling Action Resolution Plot = The series of events that give a story meaning

Rising Action (Conflict) Rising action consists of events in the story that lead to the climax. This is brought about by CONFLICT There are TWO types of conflict: Internal External
Conflict Internal Conflict Man vs. Self External Conflict Man vs. Man Man vs. Nature Man vs. Government/Authority Man vs. Supernatural
Climax The climax is the most emotional part of the story It is when the main conflict is resolved
Falling Action Tying up loose ends Added description of the conflict
Resolution Explaining how the conflict was resolved Showing the characters back to normal Explaining how the knowledge the main character gained is being put to use
Theme A one sentence idea of the story showing its higher meaning or lesson to be learned. The moral. Is not plot
