Our 5 Challenges Patient experience Our clinical models Our finances Our staff Our buildings Case for Change Overview

Engagement Events (held in November) 9th Nov Public Engagement (Chorley) We held 8 events throughout November in 3 locations 138 people attended We shared the case for change, and held discussions on what was important to people about their health and care services We have combined feedback into 12 key points 10th Nov Public Engagement (Preston) 14th Nov Public Engagement (South Ribble) Engagement Events Feedback

You told us that … We want you to … Improve our access to help and services. Provide the right care in the right place at the right time. Help people to get the help they need by providing a single point of contact. Use the resources we have better. Help people to use the right services in the right way. Share information between yourselves. Share information with me. Engagement Events Feedback

You told us that … We want you to … Encourage people to take ownership of their own health and the way they use the NHS. Provide care that is co-ordinated across all of the organisations involved in delivering it. Reduce differences in how the same services are delivered across Lancashire. Learn from what works and pass it on. Improve staff recruitment, morale and retention. Use IT and technology more. Engagement Events Feedback

You also told us that you; Are concerned over the temporary closure of A&E in Chorley Had a distrust of plans and transparency Were worried about open decision making Were concerned about a risk of NHS privatisation Wanted to ensure that NHS services remained free at the point of care Engagement Events Feedback

Engagement Events Feedback You said… we did… Increased social media activity on Facebook and Twitter Increased media activity – radio Created and distributed leaflets and posters to: GP Practices Post Offices Town Halls and council websites Hospital sites Leisure Centres Community Centres Libraries Supermarkets Pharmacies Planning visits to VCFS meetings, forums, charities, advocacy groups, schools, colleges and employers Engagement Events Feedback

How our health and care services currently work   What is a model of Care

How could this be changed? What is a model of Care

Table discussions Table Exercise 1 What do you think? - What do you agree or disagree with? - What are your worries or concerns? What do you think?

Table discussions Table Exercise 2 What would you do? - Consider your personal experiences - Consider your local knowledge - What you’ve heard today What would you do?

What will happen next? New ways of working will be developed further with clinical staff, taking in your feedback We will consider how to deliver this new way of working and think about settings of care, workforce, estates, resources, technological solutions

Narrowing down our choices We will then need to narrow down our choices by evaluating the different proposals by measuring them against Evaluation Criteria Evaluation Criteria has been developed by Clinicians and ranked by them – its your turn

Narrowing down our choices Evaluation Criteria example – Buying a car   Criteria Consideration Score A More reliable and better quality Will a new car be more reliable? Will a new car be more comfortable to drive? Will a new car start better in winter? 3 B Affordability Can I afford to buy the car? Can I afford the finance repayments? Can I afford any services, parts and repairs that may be needed? Can I afford the tax and insurance? 2 C Improved safety Would a new car have more airbags? Would a new car have a better braking system? Would a new car have additional safety alert features? 1 D Availability of the vehicle Would this new car be available in the UK? How long would I have to wait for it to be delivered? Is there somewhere locally that I could go to test drive the car? 4 E Extra Features Does the new car have heated seats? Does the new car have cup holders? Is the car available in the colour I would like? 5 15

Table discussions Table Exercise 3 Narrowing down our choices looking at the evaluation criteria
