Turkey for Thanksgiving Family Dinner

Checking the Recipe Most families eat turkey on Thanksgiving. There are many recipes that tell you how to cook a turkey.

Preparing the Turkey Before you put the turkey in the oven, you must prepare it. Some people put stuffing inside the turkey.

Basting the Turkey While the turkey is cooking, it is a good idea to baste it. “Basting” means to pour the juices over the meat as it cooks.

Setting the Table The girl is setting the table. She is putting the plates and silverware on the table.

Sneaking a Piece of Turkey The boy is hungry. He is sneaking a piece of turkey.

Carving the Turkey The father is carving the turkey. He is cutting it with a sharp knife.

Serving the Turkey This man is being polite. He is making sure his wife has enough food.

Passing the Food Don’t reach across the dinner table. Instead, ask people to pass the food to you.

Dessert On Thanksgiving, most families eat pumpkin pie with whipped cream for dessert.
